We welcome the following special guests:
Honorary Chair: Kent Wellington. Kent Wellington is the proud father of two grown children and a 22-year CYC mentor to multiple children and young adults in our programming. Kent's tenure has been marked by his compassionate and steadfast leadership, and an infectious optimism that has brought hundreds of volunteers from every corner of Cincinnati to CYC's Saturday Hoops program each Saturday every January through May. Kent believes that every child deserves a bright future, and access to a warm and welcoming environment filled with caring adults who believe in their potential. Saturday Hoops is just that place for so many of our youth. Kent and the Saturday Hoops team just wrapped up an incredible 14th season of Hoops.
Additionally, Kent has served as the president of CYC's executive board for many years, and now holds a role on our advisory board. In his day job, Kent is an attorney at Graydon where he chairs the firm's Litigation Group, helps lead community efforts, and touches many lives in the process.
Master of Ceremonies: Regina Carswell Russo. Regina began her professional communications career in radio in Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan. She later switched to television news working in Lansing, Michigan before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio where she spent 15 years as anchor/reporter/host for the FOX affiliate.
Feeling a desire to stretch her talents in storytelling she became the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Her work there was recognized by the Cincinnati Business Courier, awarding Carswell Russo with a C-Suite Award for Chief Marketing Officer.
Regina is also a published writer, serving on the Editorial Board of Contributors for the Cincinnati Enquirer and Contributor to Polly Magazine, UPTOWN Magazine and Movers & Makers Magazine.
CYC currently serves more than 5,000 students across five local school districts (CPS, Finneytown, Norwood, North College Hill, Winton Woods) and two Universities (University of Cincinnati Blue Ash and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College).
CYC has a continuum of services that starts in 2nd grade and extends post high school graduation (one year for most and beyond one year for students who desire college mentoring). The range of services are delivered in school and outside of school with committed staff, volunteers and partners. The organization’s highly effective programming includes social/emotional skill building in elementary school, goal setting and career exploration through middle school, college readiness and employee success skills in high school, with mentoring throughout.
